Golden Knights fall on Sophomore Night

The West Georgia Technical College women's basketball team honored its three sophomores prior to Wednesday's game against Andrew College for Sophomore Night. Andrew College spoiled Sophomore Night for the West Georgia Technical College women's basketball team, handing the host squad an 84-70 setback at Oak Mountain Academy in Carrollton on Wednesday evening.

WGTC sophomore Anna Watkins led the Golden Knights with 24 points, while the Tigers were paced by the trio of Tynicia McCoy, Santasia Faust and Toddrianna Isler with 25, 24 and 20 points, respectively.

The game proved to be a back-and-forth affair for much of the first half, but a 12-3 run over the final 3:18 propelled the Tigers to a 44-33 lead at the break. Andrew (11-12) pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the second half and cruised to the victory.  WGTC drops to 6-16 on the season.

Wednesday night's contest marked the final regular-season home game for three West Georgia Tech sophomores. JaNoah Daniels (Acworth – Allatoona High), Faith Swint (Villa Rica – Carrollton High) and Watkins (Fairburn – Creekside) closed out their home careers.

The Golden Knights close out the regular season on Feb. 14 against Huntingdon College J.V. at 6:30 p.m.
