Central literary group second in region with state qualifiers

At the Region 7-4A literary meet held Saturday, March 27, the Central High team won the runner-up award. Five students advancing to state competition: Olivia Vande Kerkhoff for placing first in girls’ solo, and Owen Buford, Christian Lasseter, Carson Spears and Will Smith placed first in boys’ quartet. Will Smith also earned second place in boys’ solo. The girls’ trio of Trystan Richards Chastain, Olivia Vande Kerkhoff and Allee Adams placed second. Abigail Lee placed third in rhetorical essay, Anna Eddleman placed third in personal essay, Carson Spears placed third in comedic interpretation, Abigail Lee placed fourth in dramatic interpretation, Abigail Lee and Lily Reid placed fourth in duo interpretation, and Sachel Denney placed fourth in international extemporaneous speaking.
