An item I found at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago and the corresponding opening of local schools for the fall session reminded me of so many years ago, about 65 of them, when I was in elementary school.

My husband and I live on Creekwood Drive. We have experienced many heavy rains and lost many feet of our creek bank due to those rains over the years. However, on Sept. 21, 2009, I was awakened about 1:15 a.m. to the sound of a “ragging river” outside.
