Mrs. Joyce Farmer Cordell, age 66, of Little New York Road, Carrollton, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Emory Hospital. Mrs. Cordell was born January 29, 1944, in Dallas, Georgia, to the late Harvey Herrin and Bertha Carroll Herrin.

Mrs. Cordell was a Registered Nurse employed by Southern Traditions Nursing Home in Buchanan, Ga., and was of the Christian faith.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Cordell was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Farmer; sister, Effie Moore; grandson, Benjamin Wakefield; and her mother in-law Mary Hipp.

Survivors include her husband, Loyd Cordell; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Joe Skinner, Kim and Jamey Wakefield and Susan and Mark Jennings, all of Carrollton; sister and brother in-law, Rudean and Spencer Buchanan of Bowdon; sisters, Mackie Buchanan and Barbara Williamson, both of Carrollton; brother and sister in-law Harvey and Brenda Herrin of McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren Jacob Skinner, Daniel Skinner, Emily Wakefield, Rachel Wakefield, Olivia Jennings and Dalton Jennings.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Mr. Brian Buchanan officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Moore, Gary Moore, Steve King, Joe Williamson, Mike Williamson, Randy Herrin and Stanley Buchanan. Interment followed in Carroll Memory Gardens.
