Mrs. Lula Mae Jenkins Hendrix, 83, of 144 Depot St., Buchanan, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010. Mrs. Hendrix was born in Emerson, Ga., on Jan. 18, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Jeff Davis Jenkins and the late Lou Ella Gravley. She was a retired cotton mill worker for J.P. Stevens, Co.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Hendrix.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Couch of Temple; two sons, Jerry Wilbanks of Rome and Junior Criswell of Trion; four sisters, Louise Martin of Moultrie, Betty Gentry of Cobb County, Jo Ann Jarrell of Douglasville and Alice Parks of Douglasville; four brothers, Jack Jenkins of Gordon County, Howard Jenkins of Douglasville, George Jenkins of Stockbridge and John Jenkins of Jackson; 16 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Rayford Davenport officiating. Interment followed in the Emerson Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dwayne Wilbanks, Allen Criswell, John Lane, Joshua Long, Phil Long and Heath Long.
