Mr. Waldrop was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on February 4, 1926, the son of the late Roy Waldrop and Gladys Parkison Waldrop.
He grew up in Florence, Mississippi and served as an Ensign in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Louisiana Polytechnical Institute and retired as regional sales manager with Selkirk Metalbestos Corporation. Upon his retirement in 1983, he and his wife Nancy lived on Lake Hartwell in Hartwell, Georgia, until moving to Carrollton in 1997. Mr. Waldrop was a Mason and a member of the American Legion and Carrollton First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Thomas Waldrop, sons and daughters-in-law, James Roy Waldrop and Peggy C. of Westminster, South Carolina; Jeffrey Thomas Waldrop and Sandra of Lilburn, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Waldrop Steed and Charlie of Carrollton; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jack Parkison Waldrop Jr.; brother, Walt Irvin Waldrop; and sister, Royanne Waldrop Barry.
In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
