Mr. David Russell Williamson, age 62, of Highway 5, Roopville, Ga., passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at his residence from a rare brain disorder. He was born June 6, 1947, in Carroll County, Georgia, son of the late Russell Dean Williamson and Elsie Ruth Jones Williamson.

David was a 1965 graduate of Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Home Depot in April 2007 where he was employed as an inventory management associate. He previously was employed by U.S. Postal Service, West Georgia Electric and the Georgia Power Company. David was a member of the Roopville Road Baptist Church where he was active in the church choir and the Friendship II Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Reece Williamson; his daughters and their families, Elizabeth Williamson Turner and her husband, Bryant and their children, Madelyn, Samuel and Joe; Jennifer Williamson Robinson and her husband, Shannon and their children, Casey and Ty; brothers, Tyre Williamson of Harrison, Tenn., and Tim Williamson of Roopville; mother-in-law, Marjorie Reece of Jasper; and aunts, Hazel Edwards of Bremen and Sara Daniel of Carrollton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 5 p.m. from Roopville Road Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Peeples, Mr. Russell Butler and Mr. Kemp Denney officiating. The body will be placed in the church from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour. Music will be rendered by Bryant and Beth Turner, Kelly Murray and Melissa Adams. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Eidson, Dennis Jones, Larry Jones, Wallace Reece, Gary Reece, Bryan Reece, Bernard Whitton and J. T. Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Burgess, Garry Cater, Waymon Cheatwood, Harold Evans, Kirby Hamil, Ronald Wortham, Danny Murray and members of the Friendship II Sunday school class. Interment will follow in Roopville Road Cemetery with Rev. Chris Altman officiating. Military honors will be rendered of the US Marine Corp.
