District 1 Commissioner Freddie Ashmon Jr. is hosting a “save your home” event today with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA).

The free event will be at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 7167 South Sweetwater Road, Lithia Springs. Two separate sessions will be held, one from 9-11 a.m. and the second from 1-3 p.m.

“Never before have we had so many people being at risk of foreclosure as a result of their mortgages becoming unaffordable,” Ashmon said. “It’s my goal to give citizens a fighting chance to save their homes that they’ve worked so hard for most of their lives. NACA has gotten some homeowners interest rates as low as 2 percent and have cut mortgages in half.”

Ashmon said NACA is a nonprofit community advocacy and housing services organization. Because of this, he said, it can help owners get some of the best mortgage rates in the country.

“They’ve been able to restructure mortgages by reducing the interest rate and/or the outstanding mortgage balance for thousands of at-risk homeowners,” he said.

Registration can be done online at NACA.com or by calling toll free 1-888-302-6222. Space is limited.
