The University of West Georgia women’s basketball team trailed for most of Monday’s 62-53 loss at Benedict College in Columbia, S.C.
The Wolves (3-7) held the Tigers to 30.8-percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. But UWG had 27 turnovers of its own en route to the non-conference loss.
Benedict evened the season series after the Wolves’ 57-51 win in at The Coliseum on Nov. 24.
Junior Thomassian Wyatt, a former Bowdon standout, paced West Georgia with 24 points on Monday, including a 6-for-6 clip from 3-point range.
The Wolves play at Augusta State on Thursday before hosting Southern Arkansas on Saturday and Arkansas-Monticello on Sunday in the team’s final game of the calendar year.
UWG men: The West Georgia men’s basketball team will host Reinhardt today at 7:30 p.m. at The Coliseum as it looks for its second straight victory after beating Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Dec. 5. The Eagles feature Central graduate Mario Mason, who leads Reinhardt with 11.2 points per game.
