Winston’s Chris Achenbach, age 14, will be piloting a Larry Shaw open wheel modified when the green flag drops to start the 2010 race season at Talladega Short Track.

Achenbach is a student at Fairplay Middle School and has been racing since the age of five. He started racing quarter midgets at the Cumming Fairgrounds in Cumming, with the North Georgia Quarter Midget Association.

Achenbach then moved into the seat of a “Bandolero” while competing at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Night Thunder.

Most recently, Achenbach spent 2 ½ years racing his way around dirt ovals behind the wheel of the “Slingshot by Tobias” racecar, a half scaled version of the open wheel dirt modified.

It was in the “Slingshot” that he experienced the excitement and thrill of dirt racing. The teenager’s accomplishments include 53 A-Main race wins.

In addition to his on track wins, during the 2008 season Chris raced for and became a “Partner in Hope” for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Achenbach is excited about the challenge in front of him and looks forward to climbing behind the wheel of his CMA Motorsports / Lucas Oil backed modified. For more about him see cmamotorsports.com.
