Lee Archer of Bowdon died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. He was 93.

Mr. Archer was born on Sept. 1, 1916, in Polk County to the late William and Leila Archer. He was retired from Lamar Manufacturing and was a member of Bowdon Baptist Church. Mr. Archer was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Archer was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Abner Archer, Fred Archer, Hugh Archer, Jim Archer, and Carl Seals “Red” Archer; and a sister, Gladys Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Ina Fay Archer; son, Garry Archer of Bowdon; daughter and son-in-law, Milinda and Jimmy Thompson of Newnan; sister, Sarah Sellers of Wetumpka, Ala.; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. at Bowdon Baptist Church. Dr. Ron Huggins and Rev. Gerald Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeff Thompson, Jeff Cochran, Sonny Archer, Chuck Harper, Landon Hammond, and Brandon Hammond. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Hollis Chambers Sunday School Class. The Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 143 will fold and present the flag. Burial will follow in the Bowdon City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m.
