Fullerville Mission is reaching out to flood victims by “taking it to the streets,” The Mission has handed out more than 4,000 pounds of food and items. Mission Director Wayne Shelton said that it was devastating to see everyone’s belongings and parts of their homes in dumpsters or in their driveways. It was hard to leave without feeling pain and hurt inside knowing that they could not eat, sleep or even take a shower in their home.
Fullerville Mission knows first-hand that the needs of people carry on long after an emergency, disaster, and holidays. Therefore, they are gearing up to help the victims of the flood for months to come. The mission will have a distribution day for food, cleaning supplies and other items Oct. 25 from 1-4 p.m. The people who come for help will be able to fill out information sheets on what they will need in the coming months. The information that is gathered will allow the Mission to start collecting major items like household goods, furniture and items for Christmas. Fullerville Mission will be serving those in Carroll and Douglas County.
Applicants must have a valid photo ID and show proof of residence in flood-affected areas to receive assistance. Only one applicant may apply per household. Those in need of help can go to the website and fill out an assistance form.
