Police in Cleburne County, Ala., arrested 30-year-old Shane Stephens of Fruithurst, Ala., on Sept. 30 based on information they received from the Carroll County Sheriff’s department about his alleged involvement in numerous warehouse burglaries.

According to a police investigation led by Investigator Telisha Gibson, Stephens was the link between four people arrested last week during a stakeout at a warehouse in northwest Carroll County.

Police confirmed two previous incidents in which numerous flat-screen televisions were stolen from the storage facility.

Cleburne authorities recovered two flat-screen televisions abandoned on the side of the road near a residence where Stephens was reportedly living, according to Gibson.

“Upon arrival at his residence, Cleburne County officials arrested Stephens on our charges,” Gibson said. “After getting consent to search his residence they found numerous meth labs.”

Gibson, who was involved in the search, described the condition of Stephens’ residence as “one of the worst I’ve ever been in.”

“There was one child living there around 3 years old,” Gibson said. “The floor was falling in and there was filth everywhere. I don’t think they even had a trash can, they would just throw their trash on the floor.”

Stephens is being detained in Cleburne County on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine. His girlfriend, Tonya Blair, who is in her mid-20s, was also arrested and charged with possession of drug-related objects.

After his arrest, Gibson said, Stephens confessed to one burglary charge and at least six theft by taking charges.

“He admitted that while he was employed by the company, he would get off work in the afternoon and load a television in his truck and take it with him,” Gibson said.

After Stephens makes bond on his charges in Alabama, he will be extradited to Georgia according to Gibson.

I know these people good job for catching them. This has been going on for a long time. I have wondered how they haven't got caught. why dfacs hasn't been involved and taken those kids, they have 3 kids. Tonya lost her mother, my best friend, in 2005 because of Meth, I thought she learned from that, guess not. Good job Clebourne police and carroll county sheriff, keep up the good work.
