A 35-year-old Carrollton man died Wednesday afternoon in a two-car collision at the intersection of Highway 166 and Phillips Mill Road in Douglas County.

Georgia State Patrol officials said Tracy Newsome died in the 3:57 p.m. accident. He was the driver of a 1990 Honda Civic traveling west on Georgia Highway 166.

Another vehicle, a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by Richard Nelms of Douglasville, allegedly turned left in front of the Honda, hitting it head-on. The GSP had no information Thursday on any injuries to Nelms.

The case remains under investigation.

Tracy...oh bubba! I hate it that you had to go, but I know that heaven is lucky to have you! You were a part of my life when my own family was not, and you will always be family to me. I love you and miss you and your crazy self! I will never forget what you told me after me and Adam split up, and I will always love you for it <3 Love, B

Tracy, we all miss you man!! You were a great friend and truly a real individual. We all will miss your laughter and your zest for life and your family. To your family and friends I pray that God will bless you all in this time. Trust in the Lord and he will renew strength. On a personal level I am proud to say that I had the pleasure of knowing this man, he was an honest person and told you what he thought and that is something that I always respected from him. I also had the pleasure of working with him while he was an apprentice and also as a journeyman plumber. He was a member of Local Union 72 PLumbers and Pipefitters. He was our union brother and a brother in Christ. Again we all miss you Tracy. Rest in peace brother.
