Man arrested in connection with area burglaries

Villa Rica police have made an arrest in a case involving several burglaries in town, including six trailers that were broken into between Aug. 29 and Sept. 1.

William Miller of Douglasville was charged with loitering and prowling, criminal trespass and obstruction of an officer, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. related to his alleged pat in breaking into six trailers at Bankhead Highway business. Items taken were valued at about $12,000.

It should be noted that during the same time from a residential burglary and eight entering auto cases were also reported near this area, but Miller has yet to be linked to these cases. Those cases are still under investigation and more arrests are expected.

On Sept. 4, Villa Rica police Det. Chris Bertera and Ofc. Jason Miller began a stakeout of the area and about 2 a.m. on Sept. 5 two subjects were caught prowling at the rear of the parked trailers. The subjects fled on foot when approached by uniform officers. Only one, Miller, was taken into custody by Ofc. Steven Lujan.

Miller is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail. More charges are pending as the investigation continues.
