Not a bad weekend for Chapel Hill.

Behind the top three finishers and four of the top 10, Chapel Hill won the inaugural Decision Bridge Meet with an amazing 32 points that catapulted the Panthers into the No. 2 spot in the State AAAAA Cross Country Rankings by ga.milesplit.us.

Using real times to determine the rankings, Brookwood holds down the top spot in both Class AAAAA and All Classification boys. Centennial and Chapel Hill are too close to call as Centennial is No. 2 in all classes with Chapel Hill No. 3 but flip-flop in just the AAAAA rankings.

Alexander finished second behind a strong performance from Weston Smallwood and continues to hold the No. 2 spot in the rankings in a tight group. According to the AAAA rankings, Alexander, Hillgrove and Marist are within eight points of each other behind McIntosh.

Individually, the Panthers have three of the 10 fastest runners in the state. Volyes is listed at No. 4 (15:48) with Chance Eldredge (No. 6, 15:59) and Adonis Gaines (No. 8, 16:02) among the leaders in the state in all classifications. Out of just AAAAA runners, Voyles, Eldredge and Gaines are listed at No. 2, 3 and 5 respectively behind Grayson’s Kirubel Erassa.

In AAAA, Smallwood and Josh Clay are the top Cougars. Smallwood is listed at the No. 6 runner in AAAA while Clay falls in at No. 12 with Trey Gray (17:20) at No. 14.

On the girls’ side, Chapel Hill is listed at No. 9 in AAAAA while Alexander is listed at No. 15 in AAAA.

Gabby Fulton (19:48) has the No. 17 fastest time in AAAAA with Gina Melilli (19:49) listed at No. 24.

That doesn’t even include Ashton Lord who finished third overall at the Decision Bridge Meet but in a slower 20:16 due to a rougher course, just ahead of Melilli (20:48).

The Lady Cougars are led in the rankings by Leslie Stewart (No. 27, 21:24) but Alexander’s Brittany Truitt (21:31) finished at No. 9 in Hampton last weekend.
