Mayor Mickey Thompson signs a proclamation declaring Sept. 17-Sept. 23 as Constitution Week in the city of Douglasville. Sept. 17 marks the 222nd anniversary of the drafting of the U.S. Constitution by the Constitutional Convention. The traditon of celebrating the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution, who petitioned Congress in 1955 to set aside Sept. 17-23 annually for the observance.
