Three men were arrested and charged with entering an auto last week after Villa Rica police received three reports of incidents in the Pebble Brook subdivision during the night of Monday, Aug. 31. A stereo was taken from a vehicle on Daisy Lane and an attempt was made to remove another car’s stereo at the same location.
Miscellaneous items were also stolen from a truck on Daniel Road. Police believe there may have been unreported home break-ins on Brookhaven Drive. Residents are encouraged to report any additional information to Det. Chris Bertera of the Villa Rica Police Department.
• Bertera and Officer Jason Miller conducted a stakeout Friday night off Bankhead Highway after they received a report that six trailers had been broken into between Sunday, Aug. 29, and Tuesday, Sept. 1. Around 2 a.m., police saw two suspects prowling around the rear of the parked trailers. Bertera and Miller called for backup and a group of officers arrived at the scene. When approached by the officers, the suspects fled on foot. Officer Steven Lujan apprehended William Miller, who was arrested and charged with loitering and prowling, criminal trespass, obstruction of an officer and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, according to the police report. Further charges are pending and authorities anticipate more arrests in connection to these incidents.
• Arthur Trammell Jr., 43, was arrested Friday around 9:15 p.m. for obstructing law enforcement and criminal trespass. Sheriff’s Office deputies Gene Brown and Tracey Cook responded to a 911 call from Thomas Lee Copeland, 29, who made the call from his cell phone after Trammell reportedly pulled a razor knife on him in his apartment. Copeland reported that Trammell took the cell phone during the emergency phone call and broke it in half.
When Brown arrived at the scene on 1600 Highway 27, Trammell explained that the altercation took place when he arrived at Copeland’s apartment to tell him to pay his rent. Trammell also told police that he had been drinking beer and had not taken his medication. When the officers told Trammell to place his hands on the hood of the police car and started to search Trammell for weapons, he jerked away and said, “I’m not going to jail,” according to sheriff’s reports.
Trammell then walked toward his apartment and was ordered to stop. When he continued to walk away, Brown reported that he warned Trammell that if he continued he would shoot him with a Taser stun gun. Trammell, according to reports, turned around and assumed a fighting stance. Brown fired his M26 Taser and Trammell fell to the ground. Cook then handcuffed him and called an ambulance to make sure Trammell was not seriously injured. Copeland said he didn’t intend to pursue any charges, he only wanted his cell phone replaced.
