Mr. Harmon, a Nanticoke Indian, was born February 20, 1944, in Millsboro, Delaware, the son of the late Mr. Isaac Wilson Harmon and the late Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Sammons Harmon. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist for Southwire. Mr. Harmon was a member of the Indian Mission Church in Delaware, the Beulah Lodge #698 F&AM, he was a Shriner and a member of the Yaraab Temple in Atlanta.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harmon was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Harmon, and his sisters, Cecile Corsey and Marion Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ora Elizabeth “Betty” Roper Harmon of Temple; his daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Greg McDaniel of Waco, Hollie Harmon of Temple and Elena Harmon and her husband, David Morris of Dover, Del., and Lauren Summerville of Temple; his sons and daughters-in-law, Skipper and Debbie Harmon of Bowdon, Corky and Teresa Harmon of Temple and Dillon Summerville of Temple; sisters, Betty Street, Elena Street, June Robbins, Beatrice Miller and Lorraine Johnson, all of Delaware; his brothers, Conrad Harmon and Jan Harmon of Delaware and Daniel Harmon of Temple; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Enoch Luke and Pastor Bill Tribble officiating. His granddaughters will serve as flower ladies. Serving as pallbearers will be the members of the Beulah Lodge #698 F&AM. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Chambers, Scott White, Buddy Cash, Earl Davenport, Sam Nalley, Mike Harmon and Scott Roper. Burial will follow in Community Memory Gardens in Bowdon with Rev. Michael Williams, the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Beulah Lodge #698 F&AM officiating.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Sunday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 9 p.m.
