Douglas County grassroots tax protesters will hold a T.E.A. (Taxed Enough Already) Party on Labor Day from 6-8 p.m. at Clinton Nature Preserve on Ephesus Church Road.

Organizers say the event is to “encourage residents to gather, listen and learn about our out of control government spending, the national deficit and healthcare reform issues.”

Herman Cain, talk radio host on WSB-AM 750, will be the keynote speaker. Cain is a vocal proponent of the Fair Tax and limited government involvement in free enterprise. Joel Aaron of WGKA-AM 920 talk radio will be the master of ceremonies and host.

“Our elected officials are not listening to our voices,” said Brenda Bohanan, Douglas County resident and event organizer. “So, by joining together at events like the Labor Day T.E.A. Party, we can increase awareness and participation in our democratic process locally and become more effective in communicating our wishes to those who represent us in Washington.”

Bohanan said people attending will also have a chance to hear local speakers address a variety of issues and meet several candidates who are running for state and local offices next year.

She said the Douglas County T.E.A. Party is organized locally by county residents and is not affiliated with any other group. She said it is funded by local donations from small businesses and private citizens.

More information on the event and speakers can be found on Facebook at http://groups.to/douglasteaparty/ or by contacting lead organizer, Maureen Miller at casmaur@bellsouth.net.
