A single-car accident near Villa Rica claimed the life of a local teen last Friday.

Brian Larson, 19, of Villa Rica was found dead at the scene of an accident on South Van Wert Road at about 7:20 p.m. on Nov. 21.

David Mills, a dispatcher for the Georgia State Patrol, said Larson lost control of his 2000 Ford Taurus coming around a curve. Larson’s car left the roadway and flipped several times before the roof of the Taurus struck a concrete electric pole, according to Carroll County Emergency Management Agency Director Tim Padgett.

Georgia State Patrol, the Carroll County Fire Department, West Georgia Ambulance and the Carroll County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene, but Padgett said Larson was already deceased when authorities arrived.

Larson was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred, and authorities did not suspect either drugs or alcohol to have been a factor in the wreck. Mills said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

“Basically, it just looks like he, for unknown reasons, lost control,” Mills said.
