The Carrollton Bluefins traveled with some of their new, younger swimmers to LaGrange this past Saturday for the annual Halloween Invitational where they finished fourth overall in the seven-team competition and saw several of their newer swimmers emerge with a lot of success.
Fourteen out of the 30 Bluefins in attendance swam in the first-ever swim meet.
The following swimmers finished the meet with all-star status, which means they finished in the top-four point scores in their gender and age division: Samantha Crews (6&U girls), Ashley Williamson (6&U girls), Mackenzie Tanner (7-8 girls), Cade Crews (9-10 boys), Donald Sener (9-10 boys), Julia Campbell (11-12 girls) and Justin Purchase (15-18 boys).
The following swimmers earned top-five finishes: Julia Campbell, third in 50 free and 50 butterfly; 5th in 100 free and 200 IM; Samantha Crews, second in 50 free, third in 25 back and 25 free, fourth in 15 back; Cade Crews, second in 50 free, 25 free, 25 breast and 100 IM; Katherine Denney 9-10 girls, fifth in 25 free and 25 butterfly; Erica Griffies, 9-10 girls fifth in 100 IM; Malachi Ivey, 7-8 boys, fourth in 25 butterfly, fifth in 50 free, 25 breast and 100 IM; Landon McLeod, 11-12 boys, fourth in 50 back and 50 breast, fifth in 50 free; Jack Newbern, 9-10 boys, third 25 fly, fifth in 100 IM; Jordan Nix, 13-14 boys, second in 50 back, third in 100 free and 50 breast; Marlen Perezcassar, 6&U girls fourth in 50 free; Justin Purchase, first in 50 back (36.99), second in 50 breast, third in 50 free and fourth 100 free; Zachary Seymour, 9-10 boys, second in 25 fly; Mackenzie Tanner, second in 50 free and 25 free, third in 25 fly, fifth in 100 IM; Reed Tanner, 9-10 boys, second in 25 back, fourth in 50 free; Charles West, 7-8 boys, fourth in 25 back and 25 breast; Ashley Williamson, first in 25 back (29.19), third in 50 free, fourth in 25 breast; Christian Williamson, 7-8 boys, fourth in 100 IM.
The Bluefins will travel to Jonesboro next week before returning home and hosting the annual Fall Classic meet at Lakeshore Natatorium on Nov. 7-9.
