An apparent domestic dispute early Saturday morning turned violent when two friends fought it out with a box cutter.
Larry Pinkard, 28, of Carrollton, turned himself in to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Saturday and was charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Capt. Shane Taylor of the Sheriff’s Office said that the incident preceding Pinkard’s arrest began on Friday evening at the Big Daddy’s nightclub, formerly known as the Blue Dolphin, on Kennedy Estates Road. A couple who lived nearby on Kennedy Estates Road went to the club that evening, and the wife went home to check on the couple’s children at around 11:30 p.m.
According to Taylor, the wife returned to see her husband inside the club flirting with a woman the wife believed to be a romantic acquaintance of her husband’s. Taylor said that the couple began to fight and eventually took their argument into the club’s parking lot. Taylor said that Pinkard, a life-long friend and neighbor of the wife, stepped into the argument and began fighting the husband.
Though no one was seriously injured during the incident, a club employee asked the male victim to leave the club while Pinkard went back inside. Taylor said the male victim returned to the club less than an hour later, and another fight with Pinkard broke out. According to Taylor, the second fight became violent.
“During this fight, the offender, Pinkard, stabbed the victim approximately 12 times with a box-cutter razor blade,” Taylor said.
The victim had stab wounds to his chest and back, and to the back of his head. He was treated at Tanner Medical Center and released within 48 hours of being admitted, but Taylor said investigators have yet to ascertain the full extent of the victim’s injuries.
Taylor said that sheriff’s Investigator Jimmy Adams met the victim at the hospital on Saturday morning and interviewed witnesses from the club. According to Taylor, Adams tracked Pinkard down by Saturday morning but did not make an arrest because both Pinkard and the victim allegedly behaved combatively.
A warrant was issued for Pinkard’s arrest by Saturday evening, and Pinkard turned himself in at the Jack T. Bell Detention Center at around 9 p.m.
Pinkard posted a $10,000 property bond and was released from the county jail.
