The Bowdon High School football team came in to this early-season homecoming game 2-0 on the season looking for win No. 3 against a scrappy Temple Tiger squad.

The Red Devils’ ground attack was once again the centerpiece to a 41-6 victory over Temple.

Temple (1-2) came out with a combination of running and passing plays. Temple sophomore quarterback Matt Batrouney went to the air, completing 3-of-5 pass attempts for a total of 41 yards of offense in the first half.

The Temple run game was bogged down by the Red Devil defense with the Tigers only producing 21 yards on the fleet-footed combination of Austin Kizzee, Jalen Sullivan and Dejohn Tyler. Their efforts yielded no points for the Tigers in the first half. It was a different story all together for the Devils.

The opening 15 minutes of the game is all the explosive Bowdon offense needed to put 27 points on the scoreboard.

J.J. Beasley had three long dashes for a combined 105 yards. The Red Devils’ work horse, Ivan Glenn, carried the ball to a total of 42 yards on six tries in the first half.

Beasley, Glenn, Jordon Loveless and Avery Cheeks found the end zone in the first half. Cheeks scored twice, once on a quarterback keeper and once on a busted pass play in which he scrambled for 48 yards resulting in six points.

The ground game was once again the bread and butter for the Red Devils (3-0) by producing 255 yards in the first half. Cheeks had three pass attempts, completing only one for a total of six yards.

Bowdon went to the depth chart in the second half. Eric Slaughter, Devin Hill and Wesley Stephens continued the Red Devil ground assault, putting up 125 yards.

Stephens had a long touchdown sprint of 30 yards that put the Devils up 41-0 with 5:48 left in the fourth quarter.

Batrouney eventually punched the ball in for the Tigers late in the game.
