One of several suspects in a late-July armed robbery was apprehended last week by Villa Rica police, and more arrests may follow.

Joshua Antonio Arnold, an 18-year-old who goes by the alias “Little Tony,” has been charged with kidnapping, burglary and two counts of armed robbery in connection to a home invasion that occurred on July 28.

At about 5:45 p.m. that day, two residents of Spring Street in Villa Rica reported that at least four black men kicked in the front door of their home and entered carrying multiple firearms. The victims told police that all of the men had covered their faces.

The victims said the suspects pointed guns at them and demanded money. During the course of the robbery, one of the victims ran from the home and called 911 from a neighbor’s home. One of the suspects allegedly dragged the second victim to a bedroom upstairs by the hair and proceeded to steal prescription medication and cash. The victims reported that once police sirens were heard in the distance, all of the suspects fled toward Thomas Dorsey Drive.

Investigators handling the case identified Arnold as a suspect and placed him under arrest on Aug. 7.

Capt. Brian Camp of the Villa Rica Police Department said investigators are still looking into other potential suspects in the case but have yet to file additional charges. Villa Rica police are investigating Arnold’s possible involvement in at least two other home robberies that have occurred since July 24, one in Villa Rica and one in Carroll County. Other suspects are being investigated in both of those incidents as well.

Villa Rica police executed a search warrant at Arnold’s home Thursday, but Camp declined to comment on what was found there.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case is encouraged to contact either Camp at 678-785-1109 or the Crime Stoppers tip line At 770-834-STOP.

Another alleged armed robber, a 15-year-old juvenile, was taken into custody last Friday by Carrollton police. The teen is charged with one count of armed robbery after an alleged incident at the Econo Flash on Bankhead Highway Aug. 2.

A sales clerk at Econo Flash reported that at around 10 p.m. on Aug. 2, two black males broke out a glass door in the store and entered the business, one of them holding a shotgun. The two men reportedly threatened the clerk and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect, who turned 15 two weeks before the alleged incident, is believed to have been the intruder holding the gun.

The suspect was transported to the Paulding County Youth Detention Center after his arrest, and his case is being handled in Juvenile Court.

Dobbs said additional charges may be filed against the teen, and police are still looking out for the second suspect. The sales clerk described the second suspect as a black male approximately 5’9” and weighing around 150 pounds.
