Villa Rica police arrested a teenage boy Tuesday after he allegedly held a knife to his mother’s throat.
The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the first and third degree and battery, according to Capt. Brian Camp of the Villa Rica Police Department.
According to police reports, the Hickory Falls Apartments family said the teenage suspect was arguing with his 7-year-old sister and threw a bottle of lotion at her while their mother was not at home.
Camp said in a prepared statement that the children’s mother returned home and asked the boy why his sister was so upset. At some point during the conversation the boy allegedly placed his mother in a headlock position, picked up a kitchen knife and held it to her throat.
No one was injured, and the suspect was taken to the Youth Detention Center in Paulding County.
-- Villa Rica police arrested a local woman who allegedly became involved in an Internet scheme that defrauded numerous people, including a Georgia State Trooper, of money.
Donna Rebecca Harrison of Villa Rica has been charged with seven counts of identity fraud, a felony.
Camp said Villa Rica police were contacted on June 30 by an investigator with the Glynn County Police Department in Brunswick about an identity fraud case. The investigator said the victim’s debit card had been copied and sent to a Villa Rica address. The card had also been used to withdraw money at the Race Trac in Villa Rica.
Camp said that Det. Brad Turck of the Villa Rica police tracked the credit card number to Harrison’s apartment and met her there on July 15, where she allegedly confessed to being involved in the scheme. According to Camp, Harrison said she met a man from Nigeria online in June and agreed to receive debit and credit cards through the mail. The man then reportedly told Harrison how much money she could draw from each account and had her wire some of the money to him, allowing her to keep a portion for herself.
According to Camp, Harrison received about 20 credit cards through the mail and was in possession of six when she was arrested. He also said that Harrison had withdrawn $750 from one of the cards on the day of her arrest.
Camp said Harrison gave a statement admitting to her involvement in the scheme, saying that although she knew it was wrong she could not turn down the money.
-- A man was arrested for methamphetamine possession after he dropped a bag filled with the drug in front of his probation officer, according to Carrollton police.
Perry said 23-year-old Clinton Paul Kuykendal of Douglasville went to Intertech Probation on Rome Street on July 14 to meet with his probation officer. Kuykendal reached into his pocket for money to pay his probation fee, and as he handed over the money, a plastic bag with a small amount of powder allegedly fell to the floor.
According to Perry, a field test identified the substance as methamphetamine. Kuykendal was arrested at the probation office and transported to the Jack T. Bell Detention Center, where he reportedly told authorities several different stories about the meth. Perry said Kuykendal claimed that the substance was not his and later said it was crushed up thyroid medication.
Perry did not know how much methamphetamine was in the bag.
“It’s still a felony offense,” Perry said. “He’s now been arrested after giving five or six different stories about the substance.”
