Gene Nuckles Bates, 78, of Water Spaniel Lane, Carrollton, died Feb. 14, 2008.

Memorial services will be Monday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Ephesus Christian Church.

Chet Dakota Dunn, 4 months, of 38 Spruell Creek Court, Temple, died Feb. 14, 2008.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel, Buchanan.

LAUREN HARRELL

Lauren Elise Harrell, 19, of Craven Road, Roopville, died Feb. 13, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Ms. Harrell was born Oct. 12, 1988, in Carroll County, the daughter of Chris Harrell and Kimberly Tomlin Parker. She was a housewife and member of Waco Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Chris Harrell of Waco and Kimberly Tomlin Parker of Roopville; daughter, Chelsea Hickman of Roopville; grandparents, James and Elise Tomlin of Carrollton and Jim and Carolyn Harrell of Waco; sister, Lacy Thompson of Carrollton; stepbrothers, Josh Epperson of Tallapoosa and Kris Epperson of Bremen; fiance, Chris Hickman of Roopville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Feb. 17, 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen with Minister Sidney White officiating.

Interment will follow in Bowdon City Cemetery.

LENOS NICHOLS SR.

Funeral services for Lenos E. Nichols Sr. will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Price officiating.

Mr. Nichols died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at his home in Clarkesville after an extended illness.

He was born in Ft. White, Florida, on November 12, 1912. He was the son of the late Charlie and Mary Patrick Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Sue McRee Nichols.

Mr. Nichols moved to Clarkesville in 1938. He was a lifelong educator, serving as an agriculture teacher, then as Habersham County School Superintendent, Business Manager at North Georgia Technical College and finally as State Director for Georgia’s Manpower Training Programs. He was a member of Clarkesville First United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees. He was a Life Member of the Clarkesville Lions Club and a member of Clarkesville Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Judy Nichols of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jud Hall of Heard County; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Garnett Hulsey of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Rodney Carpenter of Clarkesville; and special friend and caregiver Rita Holcomb of Clarkesville. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Clarkesville First United Methodist Church.

AGNES FLANDERS

Mrs. Agnes Crabb Flanders, age 89, of Jones Mill Rd., Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008. She was born January 15, 1919, in Laurens County, Georgia, to the late Ommie Sumner Crabb and Andrew Jackson Crabb.

Mrs. Flanders was a retired Civil Service Production Control Specialist for Robins Air Force Base.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Reid Flanders.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Barney and Anita Flanders of Carrollton, Anne and Phillip Pritchett and Judy and Stan Counce, all of Dublin, Georgia; grandchildren, Samantha Flanders of Newnan, Clayton Flanders of Carrollton, Sharon and Todd Staples of Grovetown, Georgia, Chad and Cilela Pritchett of Dublin, Charles and Jennifer Pritchett of Waycross and Brian Trott of Carrollton; and also great-grandchildren, Nathan and Wesley Pritchett.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, February 17, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. from West Georgia Memorial Park with Rev. James Carter officiating. Pallbearers will be Chad Pritchett, Charles Pritchett, Clay Flanders and Brian Trott.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, February 17, 2008, from noon until the funeral hour.
