TERRY GOLDEN

Terry “Lynn” Golden Jr., 23 of Monroe Road, Buchanan, died Sept. 4, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Golden was born on Aug. 23, 1984, in Carroll County, son of Terry Lynn Golden Sr and Deborah Higgins. He installed cabinets for Ron Zilka Cabinets Company.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Elizabeth Golden.

Survivors include his mother, Deborah Higgins, of Orlando, Fla.; father and stepmother, Terry Lynn and Kathy Golden Sr., of Buchanan; children, Alex Golden and Ansley Golden, of Temple; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Helen Higgins, of Buchanan; paternal grandfather, Junior Golden, of Buchanan; brother, Nathan Scott Golden, of Buchanan; stepbrother, Chase Dycus, of Buchanan; and stepsister, Danielle Dycus, of Buchanan.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2007, at 4 p.m. from The Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen with Rev. Paul Southern, Rev. Buddy Gentry and Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Buddy Gentry will provide music. J.R. Golden, Justin Golden, Wynn Robinson, Billy King, Donald Ploof, Don Wilson, Matt Thompson, Barry Goldin, Timmy Brown and Drew Swann will serve as pallbearers. Chase Dycus will serve as honorary pallbearer. Burial will follow in Union Hill Church Cemetery.

Joseph B. “Jake” Grooms, 85, of Powder Springs, formerly of Carrollton, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.

Funeral services will be announced by Almon Funeral Home, Carrollton.

Alice Mae Hindsman, 53, of 68 Dehunt Road, Buchanan, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Duane A. Jackson Mortuary of Carrollton.

FRED WILBURN

Fred Wilburn of Bremen died Sept. 1, 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marion Wilburn; sons and daughters-in-law, Frankie Eugene and Carie Wyatt, David Wyatt, Steve and Angela Wilburn, Michael Wilburn, all of Bremen, and Frederick, Ricky and Timothy Wilburn, all of Marietta; daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Patricia (Greg) Kerse, and Elizabeth Wilburn, of Bremen; sister, Mrs. Leola Wyatt of Powder Springs; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several other relatives.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church in Bremen with Pastor Larry McGlother officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 7, from noon until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

LEWIS JOHNSON

Lewis Veazy Johnson Jr., age 63, of Twin City, Ga., died Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral services are Saturday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Twin City United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Smith and Rev. Richard Turner officiating. Interment will be in the Fairhaven United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County. Mr. Johnson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Honorary Pallbearers are Twin City United Methodist Men.

Mr. Johnson was born in Creedmor, N.C. He was retired with the Emanuel County School System and was a former employee of the Jenkins County School System. He was a former employee of the Sylvania and Vidalia Recreation Departments.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clava Odom Johnson.

Survivors include his wife Sybil W. Johnson, of Twin City, Ga.; father and stepmother, Lewis V. Johnson Sr. and Dot Johnson, of Twin City; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Darrel Sherrod, of Twin City, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Trai and Pam Johnson and Troy Johnson and Glenna Henry, of Twin City, Ga.; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice Lee Remler and Albert Remler III, of Carrollton, Ga.; three grandsons, Evan Johnson, Austin Sherrod and Bray Sherrod, all of Twin City, Ga.; niece and nephew, Allison Lambert, of Waco, Texas, and Ben Lambert, of Carrollton, Ga.

BRIAN COOPER

Funeral services for Mr. Brian Anthony Cooper Sr. will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 2 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home. Brother Bobby Hill and Brother Bobby Green will officiate. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, Ga.

Mr. Cooper was born June 19, 1978, in Atlanta, Ga. His family moved to Paulding County in 1987. He attended Temple schools and enjoyed school sports. Brian was an avid hunter and fisherman. When he left school, he went to work for Wayne Davis Concrete in Tallapoosa where he excelled in learning different aspects of the company and loved and enjoyed all of it. He later went to work in a different career field as a cabinet maker with Ron Zilka. He was very happy and excited about the new change.

Brian was killed in a one-car accident on Corinth-Poseyville Road on September 4, 2007.

Brian’s friend, Lynn Golden, was also killed in the accident.

Brian is survived by his wife, Mrs. Shannon Greene Cooper, of Bremen, Ga.; sons, Little Brian and Austin Cooper, of Carrollton, Ga.; mother, Mrs. Mary Head Cooper, of Carrollton, Ga.; brothers, Mr. Tony Bowers of Vincennes, Ind., Mr. Troy Gene Cooper of Vincennes, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Cooper, Jr., of Dallas, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Jay (Tracy Rena) Cooper, of Carrollton, Ga.; sisters, Mrs. Tammy Williams, of Bowdon, Ga., and Mrs. Tracy Lynn Cooper Russell (Wes Williamson), of Villa Rica; seven nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Margaret) Hill, of Piedmont, Ala.; uncles; Mr. Sonny Ralph Cooper, of Vincennes, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. John (Margaret) Cooper, of Fayetteville, Ga.; special friends, Tanya Hollaman, McKenzie Hollaman and Tyler Allen, of Villa Rica, Ga.

MABEL WELDON

Mrs. Mabel Thelma Weldon, age 86, of Sims Street, Carrollton, Ga., passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007.

Mrs. Weldon was born March 3, 1921, in Worth County, Georgia, to the late Lithonia Cates Perkins and George Washington Perkins. She worked in the lunchroom for Carrollton City Schools for 18 years and was a member of Pleasant Hill Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Albert Weldon; two sons, Bobby and Davy Weldon; three sisters, Annie Mae Slocumb, Corrine Cato and Bessie Cox; and three brothers, Frank Perkins, George Henry Perkins and Carl Perkins.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Howard and Jean Weldon of Bremen, Ray Weldon, Betty Sue and Ronald Jackson and Larry and Susan Weldon, all of Carrollton; grand children, Ricky and Kay Weldon, Darlene and Michael Thompson, Henry and Ana Jackson, Christy and Chris Gunnels, Jason and Christina Weldon, Wendy Weldon and Matt Simmins, Courtney Weldon and Caleb Wood; also five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Ronald Cook officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt Simmins, Jason Weldon, Henry Jackson, Michael Thompson, Sam King, Sherman Hendrix, Mike Blandenburg and Ronnie Riddle. Interment will follow in Striplin Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 until 9 p.m.
