Place for teens
Raves to Greg Jones’ article regarding “the questions of jails.” Christians should be concerned with the state of affairs regarding our youth. There are so many youths (with non-violent crimes) that need our help. If we can give our dogs a dog park, surely we can give our teenagers (regardless of academic achievement and levels of motivation) a place to grow that does not include being incarcerated with adults well over 22 years old.

Cash for fridges?
Oh, great! Now the tax payers are probably going to be asked to dish out $200 bucks to help folks buy refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers. And they don’t even have to trade in their old ones! Well, why not? We’re already footing the bill for homes and cars and numerous other government handout programs. How long before we are paying for flat-screen TVs for everyone?

Thanks, partners
Congratulations and thank-you to the more than 300 local business and civic leaders and/or organizations which have signed up this year to assist local schools as Partners in Education. This is a very successful and vital program for the advancement of education in our county.

Scholarship winner
Hats off to Douglas County resident Aisha Meeks who has won a $10,000 scholarship from KPMG Foundation as part of its Minority Accounting Doctoral Scholarship program.
Warren Buffett says that "cost is what you pay, value is what you get". Douglas County pays a 7 millage rate and gets nothing. Rockdale County pays a 14 millage rate and gets something! Please, let's compare apples with apples!
