Masonic Lodge
The Bremen Masonic Lodge will have an Entered Apprentice degree on Tuesday, June 23. A meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the lodge will open at 7:30 p.m. All qualified brethern are invited.

Warren P. Summer reading
Buchanan-Haralson Public Library presents its summer reading 2009 program at the library. On June 23 at 4 p.m. Lula Bell will capture everyone’s attention with her wildly creative fairy tales and on June 30 at 4 p.m. Michael White will create his magic on paper.
Summer festival
There will be a benefit for Rachel’s Wish Foundation at Possum Snout Arena in Tallapoosa on June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be mounted shooting cowboys, dress the sheep and a watermelon eating contest. There will also be a cake auction and a silent auction and pony rides, petting zoo, ice cream, funnel cakes and live bluegrass music. At 6 p.m. there will be bull riding, barrel racing and more. Bremen schools
Bremen Middle School and Bremen 4th and 5th Grade Academy are accepting applications for new out-of-district students for the 2009-10 school year. Academic, attendance and discipline records from previous schools are required to be submitted with application. Applications can be obtained on the Web site at www.bremencs.com and submitted to the schools at 2440 Crosstown Parkway, Bremen, GA 30110.
Summer reading for teens
The Buchanan-Haralson Public Library will present its summer reading 2009 program for teens. David A. Dixon will present Dare to Stink on July 7 at 4 p.m. and an encore performance on July 14 at 4 p.m. On July 21 at 4 p.m. Kyle Puttkammer, artist, will entertain and on July 28 at 4 p.m. there will be a Tie-Dye and pizza program.
Night at the Movies
Please join the City of Bremen and the Bremen Downtown Development Authority at 9 p.m. on June 27 as they will present Madagascar on the big screen! Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to the Buchanan Street parking lot and enjoy a fun evening under the stars! The fun begins earlier in the day with the Grand Opening of Village Treats ice cream and coffee shop, featuring bluegrass pickin’ by Bullsboro, starting around 6:30 p.m. Admission to the movie if Free; popcorn and drinks will be on sale. On July 25 they will present Grease. Hope to see you at the movies!
Pre-registration
Pre-registration for Bremen High School, Bremen Middle School and Bremen 4th and 5th Grade Academy for new students for the 2009-2010 school year who did not attend these schools during the 08-09 school year and would like to enroll for the 09-10 year, will be held Monday and Tuesda, Aug. 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. You must bring with you records from previously attended school and two proofs of city residency to apply for admission. Out-of-district students who have already been accepted have completed this pre-registration process and only need to register with all students on Aug. 11. Regular student registration is Aug. 11 for returning students and those who have already pre-registered only. No new students will be allowed to register on that day.
Gold Dust pageant

Pre-K Registration
Jones Elementary School currently has a limited number of Pre-K openings for Bremen City residents for the 2009-10 school year. Children should be four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 to attend. You will need to bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, two proofs of Georgia residency, if possible. Bremen Board Of Education
The Bremen Board of Education will hold a called board meeting on Thursday, June 18, at 3 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to set the budget and make decisions regarding personnel and other business matters. The Bremen Board of Education holds its regular board meeting on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Warren Sewell Administration Building located at 504 Laurel Street in Bremen, Ga. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, July 13. All board meetings are open to the public.
Coosa Valley RDC
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Coosa Valley Regional Development Center Board of Directors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Coosa Valley RDC offices located at 1 Jackson Hill Dr. in Rome, Ga. All meeting of the Coosa Valley RDC are open to the public.
Gingrey Outreach Day
Congressman Phil Gingrey will have a representative in Haralson County to assist constituents with case work, legislative questions and other concerns and inquiries. Linda Liles, constituent service representative to the Congressman, will be at the Government Complex, Conference Room, 155 Van Wert St., Buchanan, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24. All members of the community are invited to stop by for assistance with federal agencies, answers to questions about Congressional legislation, and an opportunity to voice comments or concerns they would like brought to Congressman Gingrey’s attention.
