Camp Sellers

A girls basketball camp for ages 7-14 will be held at Bremen Middle School June 15-17. Camp cost $35 per camper. For more information visit www.bremencs.com/bhs.

Called meeting

The Bremen Artisan and Artifact Committee will hold a called meeting on June 12 at 7:30 a.m. at Bremen City Hall.

Volleyball meeting

There will be a parent/coach meeting for Rebelette Volleyball on June 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All parents are encouraged to participate. Refreshments will be served.

Summer movies

Warren P. Sewell Memorial Library of Bremen will host “Summer Movies at the Library” on Wednesdays during the months of June and July. “Animation Domination” movies will be shown at 10:30 a.m. and “Family Fun Flicks” at 1 p.m. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Senior Employment

Mercy Senior Care’s Senior Employment Program provides training designed to help older workers find productive jobs. It offers up to 25 hours per week of training paid at the current minimum wage which at the current time is 6.55 per hour. The workers are placed with non profit organizations in your county to learn new working skills and then are assisted with job placement into regular jobs using the skills that they learned at the non profit organization. Eligibility consists of being at least 55 years of age and being within the federal income guidelines. Development authority

There will be a called meeting of the Development Authority of Bremen on June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Bremen City Hall.

Food distribution

Tallatoona Haralson HRDC will distribute food from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17 on a first come, first serve basis, while quantities last at the End Time Warriors for Christ on Carrollton Street in Buchanan (in the back). Please bring identification. For information call 770-646-3845.

Summer reading

Buchanan-Haralson Public Library presents its summer reading 2009 program at the library. At 4 p.m. on June 16, Duffie the Library Lunatic will be the entertainment. On June 23 at 4 p.m. Lula Bell will capture everyone’s attention with her wildly creative fairy tales and on June 30 at 4 p.m. Michael White will create his magic on paper.

Summer festival

There will be a benefit for Rachel’s Wish Foundation at Possum Snout Arena in Tallapoosa on June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be mounted shooting cowboys, dress the sheep and a watermelon eating contest. There will also be a cake auction and a silent auction and pony rides, petting zoo, ice cream, funnel cakes and live bluegrass music. At 6 p.m. there will be bull riding, barrel racing and more. Bremen schools

Bremen Middle School and Bremen 4th and 5th Grade Academy are accepting applications for new out-of-district students for the 2009-10 school year. Academic, attendance and discipline records from previous schools are required to be submitted with application. Applications can be obtained on the Website at www.bremencs.com and submitted to the schools at 2440 Crosstown Parkway, Bremen, Ga. 30110.

Summer reading for teens

The Buchanan-Haralson Public Library will present its summer reading 2009 program for teens. David A. Dixon will present Dare to Stink on July 7 at 4 p.m. and an encore performance on July 14 at 4 p.m. On July 21 at 4 p.m. Kyle Puttkammer, artist, will entertain and on July 28 at 4 p.m. there will be a Tie-Dye and pizza program.

Night at the Movies

Please join the City of Bremen and the Bremen Downtown Development Authority at 9 p.m. on June 27 as they will present Madagascar on the big screen! Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to the Buchanan Street parking lot and enjoy a fun evening under the stars! The fun begins earlier in the day with the Grand Opening of Village Treats ice cream and coffee shop, featuring bluegrass pickin’ by Bullsboro, starting around 6:30 p.m. Admission to the movie if Free; popcorn and drinks will be on sale. On July 25 they will present Grease. Hope to see you at the movies!

Gold Dust pageant

Bremen Car Cruise

Pre-K Registration

Jones Elementary School currently has a limited number of Pre-K openings for Bremen City residents for the 2009-10 school year. Children should be four-years-old on or before Sept. 1 to attend. You will need to bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, two proofs of Georgia residency, if possible. Registration forms can be picked up at Jones Elementary School main office on 206 Lakeview Dr. Bremen, Ga. If you have questions call John Lebowitz at 770-312-0601.

2009 BHS Camp
