The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers soccer team dominated at home on Tuesday night against the visiting, higher classified, 5-AAAAA Hiram Lady Hornets.

Taking and keeping the lead early, classification did not matter, as Chapel Hill shut out Hiram 8-0.

Although it looked as if an intense battle might be brewing early, once the Lady Panthers settled in and took control, they kept it.

With just six minutes off the clock, Alyssia Lowers took her first of three goals of the half and put Chapel Hill up 1-0.

At the 32 minute mark, Elizabeth Odom went for a sure shot, but got too much force on the kick and bounced it off the top of the goal.

Keeping possession and only three minutes later, Lowers and Diyanah Gilchrist struck back-to-back, both earning a shot each and a 3-0 Lady Panther lead.

Hiram tried to return the ball, but quick footwork from Kyra Anderson kept the Lady Hornets contained for most of the half. Taking the ball back downfield, Shayy Crawford broke free on a run, looking for her first goal on the night.

Although her shot bounced off the crossbar, Odom was set and waiting to sail the ball in. The Lady Panthers were now up 4-0 with 20 minutes to go.

With lack of communication on the Lady Hornet side and after laying hands on the ball, Crawford got a single look at the goal on a penalty kick, this time landing it. At the 11 minute mark, Chapel Hill stretched to a 5-0 lead.

Not letting up on momentum, Lowers got her third chance at a goal and sinking a clean mid-range shot, put the score at 6-0.

As time continued ticking, Crawford hooked a pass from the right to a ready Odom, laying it in with two minutes to go. Although up 7-0, the Lady Panthers took one more just seconds before the half on a kick from Alex Watts.

Chapel Hill led 8-0 at the break.

After the half, Hiram gained some momentum defensively, holding a charging Lady Panthers to no straight looks at the goal. However, the Lady Hornets were still unable to produce any goals against a relentless Lady Panther defense to prevent the shut out.

Although the Lady Panthers were unable to land any shots in the second half, their first half run was enough to seal the win.
