Mr. Clarence Edwin Burnett, age 82, of Carrollton, Georgia, died Monday, March 18, 2013. Mr. Burnett was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 1, 1930, the son of the late Christopher Columbus Burnett and Corine Sexton Burnett.

After serving one year in the United States Navy he returned to his home of East Point, Georgia, and opened Burnett Motors on Stewart Avenue. In 1970 he moved to Carrollton, Georgia, where he was the owner and manager of Burnett VW. He worked in the automobile business until his retirement due to his illness of Alzheimer’s. All who worked with him spoke about his character and that he was always putting others’ needs before his own. He was known for his integrity and love for God and his family. He was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and later joined Midway Baptist Church after moving to his home in that community.

The family would like to offer their thanks to Sheila and Heaven Sent Helpers staff, Tanner Hospice staff for the love and care they showed during his last year. Special thanks to Donna Korn, Debbie Carroll, Debbie Parrett and Jessica Gimmich of Heaven Sent Helpers for their love and encouragement not only to Clarence but to the family as well. A special thanks to Connie Jarrell for all of your love and support. May God bless you for your love and kindness.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Burnett; children, Mike (Cathy) Burnett, Donna (John) Pittman, David Burnett; son-in-law, Van Sorrells; grandchildren, Seth (Kayla) Burnett, Jason (Lori) Pittman, Stephen (Amy) Pittman, Meghan Sorrells and her fiancé, Blake Williams, Andrew Sorrells; great grandchildren, Rebekah Pittman, Jep Pittman, Thaddeus Pittman, John Carter Pittman, Caileigh Pittman, Emma Pittman; brother, Carlton Burnett; sisters, Carolyn Grizzard, Christine Olvey; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Sorrells, and brother, Chris Burnett.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 21, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Van Sorrells and Rev. Jason Pittman officiating.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service time.

Pallbearers will be Seth Burnett, Jason Pittman, Jep Pittman, Andrew Sorrells, Blake Williams and Richard Morris. Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Alzheimer’s Support Group, P.O. Box 1273, Carrollton, GA 30112.
