Mr. Yates was born in Marietta, Georgia, on September 6, 1950 to the late Merlin “Pete” Yates and Imogene Adamson Yates.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ronnie Gray.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Yates of Newnan, Georgia; his mother, Imogene “Jean” Yates of Bowdon, Georgia; his sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ed Kersey of Covington, Georgia, and Dianne Gray of Bowdon, Georgia; his son, Larry and Amy Yates of Suwannee, Georgia; his daughters, Brandie and Jon Cook of Carrollton, Georgia, Sabrina Yates and Christina Yates, both of Newnan, Georgia; his grandchildren, Nick Yates of Florida, Logan Yates of Suwannee, Georgia, and Jenna Cook of Carrollton, Georgia.
Funeral services for Mr. Yates will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Kersey officiating. Interment will follow at Veal Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 17, 2013. from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
