The University of West Georgia women’s golf team is sitting in third place at the UWG Wolf Invitational after Monday’s 18-hole opening day at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton.

The Wolves fired a 329 as a team, trailing UNC-Pembroke (326) and Lincoln Memorial (327), while North Greenville (342) and Montevallo (348) rounded out the competitors.

Junior Jaime Jordan led West Georgia on the opening day, shooting a 79, while Nicolette Boissonneau finished with a first-round tally of 81. Sophomore Jerrah Baker came in at 84 and freshman Katy Alty was just behind her at 85. Jordan is in sixth place, with Boissonneau in eighth, Baker in 11th and Alty in 14th place individually.

The day at Sunset Hills was cloudy, windy and cold, while rain crept into Carrollton later in the afternoon. Several groups just missed getting off the 18th green before a hard rain hit the area.

The teams, including fourth-place North Greenville, fifth-place Montevallo, along with individuals from Columbus State and UVA-Wise, will conclude the UWG Invitational this morning.
