With one cancellation already on the books, the Alexander Lady Cougars hosted the Stone Mountain Pirates on Thursday night to try and beat the big rain scheduled for Friday. Even though Alexander was on winter break, Stone Mountain couldn't get on this side of town in time to play a regulation game. Since the Pirates were late arriving, officials decided to play 25 minutes halves.
Clearly wanting to get back to winter break festivities, the Lady Cougars wasted little time getting the scoring under way.
Freshman Angel Gray ripped a tight shot past the Pirate keeper barely two minutes into the first half. Six minutes later Claire Lynch made a soft touch to Kat Lackey who got the shot in for the second score. ]Not wanting to miss out on the action, Lynch found the net for herself at the 14:59 mark.
Kat Lackey would go on to score three more times in the half. Other first half scorers were Kaleigh Stevenson, Brook Nail and Noel Welch. The half ended 9-0.
After a short intermission, the Lady Cougars got back to work. They dominated possession for about five minutes in the second half before Senior Maddie Seese hit the tenth goal of the game. At ten goals the game was called under the mercy rule.
