Ms. Arnold served in the United States Army Reserves for 24 years. She was deployed statewide during the Desert Storm and the Desert Shield. She was a graduate of West Georgia College in 1975 majoring in Special Education. Ms. Arnold taught for more than 30 plus years in the surrounding counties. During this time she continued her education obtaining another degree as an Educational Specialist in 2004. In 2008 she retired from Douglas County High School. After retirement she continued to work in Special Education. She became the director of Haralson County Progressive Industries where she worked with special needs adults. She was a member of the GAE and CEC. Giving her life early to God, Ms. Arnold was a very active member in church. She was a faithful member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church in Sand Hill. Here she served as the church secretary as was a certified Lay speaker. Ms. Arnold also served as a foster parent.
Ruth leaves to treasure her precious memories one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Justin and Jasmine Arnold of Temple; parents, Hulett Amos Arnold Sr. and Ruby Kate Arnold of Temple; sister, Ella Virginia Kendricks of Temple; brother and sister-in-law, Hulett Amos Arnold Jr. and Ann Arnold of Sand Hill; grandchild, Sidney Porter; three nieces, Adrianne Arnold, Desiree’ Kendricks, Ashley Arnold; five nephews, Emanuel and Melissa Arnold, Richie Arnold, Alonzo Arnold, Lorenzo Arnold, Jamarri Bailey; four grand-nephews, two grand-nieces, an uncle and hosts of aunts, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Friday, February 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica with Military Honors.
