The Villa Rica High School baseball team got off on the right foot Monday night with a 13-2, six-inning win on the road against Campbell.

Each of the nine Wildcat (1-0) starters picked up hits, with Wade Bailey, Stephen Kegley and Weston Smith all having multi-hit efforts. Mikey Palagano had the big hit, connecting on a three-run home run.

Zach Dutton got the win on the mound, throwing three innings and giving up one run on no hits. Palagano threw two innings of relief with three strikeouts, while Kegley threw the final inning.

"We were just ready to play somebody else. We have been chomping at the bit to get out there. We came out and we were ready. We played hard from the first pitch to the last pitch, that's kind of what VR baseball's all about," VR coach Jay Sneddon said.

VR remains on the road Friday, as it travels to face Gordon Central at 5:30 p.m.
