Hilda Merritt Karraker, born September 5, 1925, in Fredonia, N.Y., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, in Morgantown, W.Va. Hilda was the sister of Carrollton resident Pat Merritt (Ernie) Shadinger and Robert (Ruthann) Merritt of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Myrtle Merritt; her husband, Everett Eugene “Jim” Karraker; her sister, Bettie Ann; and her brother Richard.

She is also survived by her two children, their spouses, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Hilda and her father often visited with the Shadinger family, and is fondly remembered by all her nieces, nephews, and grands, for her needlework, her correspondence, and her sense of humour. She will be missed.
