The Golden Knights (2-0) rallied back from a 3-0 deficit for a 4-3 Game 1 win and then rolled to a 9-1 victory in the nightcap.
In the opener, LaGrange out-hit West Georgia Tech by a 7-3 count, but the Knights produced when it mattered most with runners in scoring position.
Nic Vinson led the offensive charge, doubling in the third and fifth innings to account for two of WGTC’s three hits.
Brad Bartlett earned the win on the hill in the opener, yielding one earned run on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts in the complete-game effort.
In the nightcap, the Knights got four runs in the first, four in the fourth and another in the fifth on 16 hits, which proved to be more than enough support for hurler Tyler Banks. WGTC outfielder Sean Watson and third baseman Blake Butcher had three hits and two RBI apiece, while second baseman Beau Welborn added two hits and Mike Bryan drove in a pair of runs.
West Georgia Tech returns to action this weekend when it welcomes Vincennes University to Douglasville for a three-game series, beginning with a 1:05 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. The third game is set for 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
