Emmons Hicks, 95, of Waco, Ga., died Jan. 28, 2013. Mr. Hicks was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in Pocahontas, Ark., to the late Otto and Mable Persons Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Hamilton Hicks; one sister; and three brothers.

Mr. Hicks was a foreman with Hoover Hanes. He enjoyed fishing, golf, horse and dog racing, card games, especially Rook, and gardening. He was a true outdoorsman and was never one to be idle. He farmed in his younger years and loved and lived life to it’s very fullest.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Doris Hicks of Gardena, Calif., and Glenda and Kevin Marshall of Knoxville, Tenn.; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles D. Hicks of Auburn, Calif., Donnis and Phyllis Hicks of South Haven, Mich., Richard Hicks and Michael Hicks, both of Waco; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Miller Funeral Home in Tallapoosa.

The Hicks’ family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

Burial will follow in Foreset Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen.
