The Douglas County Titans youth wrestling team competed at the All American Slam wrestling tournament at Paulding County High School this past weekend.

Kaden Brown placed fourth in the 10-under, 65-pound weight class.  Joshua Grant took first place in the 8-under, 70-pound weight class after an overtime championship match.

In the afternoon with the bigger boys,  Nate Nelson earned a first place finish in the 14-under, 98-pound weight class. This was his first gold at an open (non-beginners) tournament.

“Nat has been on task in practice and working especially hard to improve himself and up his skills as a wrestler, and now it is starting to show on the mat,” said head coach Darrell Brown. “He understands the importance of practice and has learned very well how to apply himself to get the most out... and continues to improve on his abilities. He’ll definitely be a contender for a place in our upcoming tournaments for the rest of the season.”

On Sunday at the Paulding County Beginners Tournament,  Benjamin Leverett placed first for the Titans in the 12-under, 95-pound weight class.  This was the first tournament Leverett has participated in.
