Mr. Cowell was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., the son of the Donald D. Cowell and Betty Jane Querback Cowell of Michigan. He worked in floor covering for a number of years and was a United States veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughters, Arlene Cowell and Rikki Marie Cowell, both of Michigan; sister, Tonya Shorty of Michigan; step-children, Johnny Durham of Winston, Kathy and John Blumenfeld of Villa Rica, Jeffrey and Wendy Durham of Hiram.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Correne Cowell, on Sept. 6, 2011.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 23, at noon at Melrose Hills Memorial Park with the America Legion Post #143 Honor Guard providing honors.
