Shaun Austin Ransom, age 17, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 22, 2013. He was born September 22, 1995, in Atlanta, Georgia.

He loved music and dancing and was a junior at Central High School where he had been a member of the football team and the wrestling team. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Shaun was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Ransom; and is survived by his mother, Michelle Newborn of Whitesburg; sister, Alyssa Newborn of Whitesburg; maternal grandfather, Lawrence W. Ransom of Whitesburg; aunts, Ann Boyd of Sargent, Karen and Charles Tucker of Franklin, N.C., Kristy Badillo of Whitesburg and Beth and Ernesto Martinez of Powder Springs; uncles, Doug and Sandy Ransom of Newnan and Tim and Melanie Ransom of Bowdon; and several cousins and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 25, 2013, at 3 p.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Anthony Puckett and Minister Ross Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.
