He was a United States Air Force veteran and was a retired superintendent with Daniel Construction Company. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Frye Ballentine; son, Mike Ballentine; and granddaughter, Kristie Vantassel.
Survivors include his son, Danny Ballentine of Carrollton; his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Vantassel of Carrollton; sister, Sarah Flowers of Trenton; brothers, Jack Ballentine of Parrott, Ga., and Jimmy Ballentine of Tallassee, Ala.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton with Minister Ronald Nation officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Tony Helton, Andy Anderson, Kenneth Cantrell, Terry Norton, Buck Norton and Steve Cook. Burial will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with American Legion Post #143 making the flag presentation.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
