Lions, HC land several players on all-region squad

The release of the 4-AAA All-Region team placed six Central High School football players on the first team, while a pair of Haralson County players also were named to the squad.

Region champion Callaway took most of the top honors, and Haralson County’s Nii-Okai Reindorf was named Region Iron Man.

From the Lions, Walt Turner and Ryan Helton were named first team for their work on the offensive line, while Jayleen Terry (RB), Josh Dunson (LB), Jarrett Thomas (LB) and Wesley Long (P) were also placed first team. From HC, Austin Foster (OL) and Seth Neeley (TE) got first-team honors.

On the second team from Central was Zach Doss (OL), Curtis Davenport (RB), Tyler Obukoro (K), Isaiah Daniel (DL), Stephon O’Neal (DB) and Dresden Thornton (DB). For HC, Jake Pruett (DL), Evan Jackson (LB) and Tyler Carnes (LB) made the second team.

Jacob Barnes, Tucker Simpkins, Jacob Lewis, Blake Morgan, Kyle Terrell and Corey Sullivan made the honorable mention from Central, with Cody Spain, Bradley Lopez, Scott McIntire, Lane Fortune, Bryce Wrenn and Josh Caldwell from the Rebels.

Colt Meeks and Turner were also named to the Academic All-Region team for their work in the classroom.
