Ray Shoemake, 85, of Carrollton, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.

He was born on July 24, 1927, in Franklin, Ga., the son of the late Samuel H. Shoemake and Odessa Ayers Shoemake. He was a retired factory worker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Turner, Angeline Rfthel, Fay Jordan, Dorothy Bradley; brothers, Herbert “Pete” Shoemake, William “Bill” Shoemake, Bennie “Ben” Shoemake, John Render Shoemake, Elbert Shoemake, and Cecil Shoemake, and daughter-in-law, Lynn Shoemake.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Cook Shoemake; children and their spouses, David and Lorraine Shoemake, Randy and Sandra Shoemake, Jerry and Jerri Shoemake, and Donnie Shoemake, all of Carrollton; brother, Tyre Shoemake of Carrollton; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel in Carrollton with Minister J. C. Cook and Minister Vance Hardegree officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jessie Shoemake, Seth Shoemake, Russell Shoemake, John Huckeba, Brian Shoemake, Chris Shoemake, Johnny Stitcher and Carl Smith. Burial will follow in Happy Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
