The DC girls jumped out to a 16-11 lead in the first quarter and went up 24-17 after a low scoring second. The third was a roller coaster ride with Villa Rica coming all the way back to cut their deficit to two points, and then the Lady Tigers pulled away late. DC kept the momentum going in the fourth, scoring 29 points for the victory.
“We started out a little slow as usual,” said DCHS coach Chet Forsh. “We missed some easy ones but were then able to get our running game going.”
DC got a strong performance from senior Amadi Brooks, who totaled a team high 22 points. She was 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
“She had her little jumper going today,” Forsh said. “She didn’t feel good (cold) but sucked it up and did a lot of good things.”
Senior Santasia Faust and freshman Amira Atwater followed with 14 each. Atwater had 10 points in the fourth quarter. Senior Maya Benham added nine points.
Alex Brown had seven points and 12 rebounds off the bench.
