The WGTC men won 109-105, while the women lost, 68-62.
In the men’s contest, the Golden Knights (4-6) were led by Lo’Ren Hall’s 26-point effort, as he also had eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Blair Austin added 19 points and Region 17 Division III Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Randazerro Chaney dropped in 15 points with six assists and four steals.
Shaun Monk, who scored 13 points, drained the game-winner for WGTC with 40 seconds left on the clock to put the Golden Knights ahead for good at 107-105.
“I’m proud of our guys for coming through at the end of the game again,” WGTC coach Niki Okolovitch said. “Any win on the road is a good win, especially when we travel four hours and beat a Division 1 junior college team. Between our preseason schedule and our regular season, we’ve been involved in a lot of these close, down-to-the-last possession games, and our guys step up and make the big play every time.”
In the women’s game, the Golden Knights (2-9) placed three players in double-figures offensively, led by Victoria Conner with 14 points, followed by Sha’Ron Forte with 13 and Ta’Corria Mann with 10 points and 11 boards.
Both teams were in action Friday night at Chattahoochee Tech and the women will play their third game in three days today when they host Southern Union at Oak Mountain Academy in a 4 p.m. tip.
