The Central High School wrestling team showed what it can do with a more stable roster on Wednesday night, as it picked up dual wins against Pebblebrook and Hiram in a tri-meet at Hiram.

Leading the Lions at 120 pounds was Timothy Duffey, who won both of his matches by pin, while Bo Ly (132), Jarrett Thomas (160) and Austin Folds (182) also went 2-0 with a pair of pins each.

Avery Ward (126) won with a pin and a technical fall, while Jake Toney (138) and Jacob Terry (145) were undefeated with a pin each. Also picking up pins were Levi Huckeba (152) and Chaz Belez (195).

"We've won two dual meets with a lineup that's getting much closer to where we want to be. I think it's a better reflection of the possibilities we have on our season. I thought our kids wrestled very tough against some teams that are young and tough, as well. Hiram is a AAAAA team and Pebblebrook is a AAAAAA team," Central coach Marcus Marenda said. "If we continue to show this kind of improvement, great things are possible this season. We just want to keep getting better every week."

The Lions will travel to Lassiter on Saturday for the MTXE Invitational at 8 a.m.

Central's junior-varsity squad went 6-6 on Wednesday.

Aaron Bradley was 2-0 with two pins, while Conner Eldred, Exon Paltan, Michael Paea and Donovan Collins were all 1-0, winning by pin.
